Don't be the bottleneck in your own business!

As Leaders and Entrepreneurs, there are many different ways that we can become a bottleneck in our business. These tend to be based on our “Saboteurs” - beliefs and fears that we have stored within our subconscious mind that affect how we show up in the world, to others, and to ourselves.

Do any of these resonate with you?

  • The Controller - do you find it hard to delegate? Do you have to be on top of everything? By controlling everything, this robs others of the opportunity to tap into their own resources to learn and grow. This can leave them feeling controlled, used and resentful. It also increases their dependency on you, which of course increases your workload and ensuing feeling of stress. It’s a vicious cycle.

  • The Hyper-Achiever - do you feel driven by a constant need to prove yourself? Even though you hit one milestone after the next, the satisfaction always feels short-lived before you’re already stressing about the next goal. No time for emotions, do you ever feel estranged from yourself and your deeper feelings? And because your self-worth and identity is so attatched to success, when hiccups happen, do you feel like a failure?

  • The Hyper-Rational - do you believe that you always know best? Do you default to logic because it feels safer than emotions? And whilst you can appreciate that people and relationships are the cornerstones of a successful business, you find them irrational and difficult to navigate? Do other people see you as aloof, uncaring or intellectually arrogant?

  • The Pleaser - do you feel that you’re so busy looking after everybody elses’s needs that you’ve lost sight of your own? As a result do you feel frustrated and resentful? Are you worried that if you say “no” or create healthy boundaries, you will lose the people you most want to keep close? Do you feel as if you’ve given away your power but are too frightened to take it back?

Being at the mercy of our Saboteurs is exhausting and doesn’t help you OR your business!

Your Saboteurs will tell you that you need them because they motivate you and keep you safe. This can be true, but they are terrible at creating long-term happiness and sustainable success.
